why is China trying to buy up all our scrap carpet nylon? Can you chemically separate 6,6 polymers safely?

A buyer from China contacted my firm yesterday looking to purchase our Nylon 6,6 fiber waste. They stated their employer was a Chinese buyer looking to recycle 6,6 fiber back into new carpet. I stopped the salesperson and said that that was impossible. I'm under the impression that 6,6 nylon has molecular bonds too strong to be De-polymerized into monomers to make new carpet fiber again. 6,6 fiber can only be made into denser materials like auto parts and injection molded stuff...not something as delicate as carpet fiber. So what gives? Is there a way to chemically separate the polymers in 6,6 fibers that is sooooo toxic they can only do it in China? I found the link above to further my conspiracy theory. What are you up to China? How come you can apparently get a cradle to cradle 6,6 nylon and the US can't? Help us superman!!!
