Is it bad to feed dogs cat food?
I have a Mini-Pom, he refuses to eat dog food. We tried different kinds of food and no go. He would sneak over to the cat food and eat a few pieces. He doesnt eat much as it is but we just kind of gave up buying all these different kinds of dog food. What should we do?
I had a look at the Blue Buffalo site. Cat food contains a lot more protein....40% whereas dog food contains 24%.....this was for adult food. Not a lot of difference in fat....cat food contained 18% and the dog food 14%. What really surprised me was the calories in each cup. Cat food contained 391kcals per cup, and the dog food 442 kcals per cup. So the big difference is the protein. From this site below:-

Sooooo.....if you have a very active dog, then it's going to burn off the calories from the protein. If it's a layabout, it's going to put on weight.
ETA:- To all those people who say a dog should not eat cat food, can you please give your reasons why, as opposed to they just shouldn't? From research, it would appear that dogs can survive on cat food, but cats cannot survive on dog food......this, of course, bearing in mind the difference in protein levels.
