During sleep, the body has a chance to replace chemicals and repair muscles, other tissues and aging or dead cells. In children and young adults, growth hormones are released during deep sleep.
But there are times when people cannot sleep. It is bedtime, and after a long day, you feel that you are tired and need to rest. But instead of fall asleep, you lying in bed, staring at the ceiling with blank mind because you cannot sleep at all, no matter how hard you try. You have several hours before you have to get up for work. Stop thinking about sleep medicine because there is another way how to sleep naturally.
People who have sleeping problem should avoid caffeine as much as possible. You may have trouble staying awake during the day so you turn to caffeinated beverages to make you alert. You can slowly withdraw your caffienated beverage intake. Discipline yourself to stop consume one after past noon. Caffeine keeps you from falling asleep at night. It also increases number of wake up times during night and can impede with deep sleep which makes your night restless.
Skip heavy late night dinner. Eating before bedtime can cause your stomach to be more active, leading to restless sleep. Sip a cup of warm milk, herbal tea or fruit if you hungry.
