How do I make my blazer tighter?
My friend who moved overseas gave me a really cool blazer made from white cotton. Problem is, he's bigger and taller than me so the blazer doesnt fit me very well. it fits my shoulder though coz I'm broad-schouldered, but my torso is smaller and shorter than his. so when I wear it, it looks like a lab coat rather than a blazer. btw I'm a guy.
is there a way to make the blazer fit my torso? will a tailor be able to do that? or can you sew some kind of tightening strap at the back of the blazer or something? will it look ridiculous? coz I have a waistcoat and it has tightening straps sewed on at the back, and i think that's pretty normal.
Take it to a tailor or alterationist. Vests are meant to be adjusted with a strap... they're thin fabric backs and worn under a coat. Blazers don't look right all bunched up. Do it right, have it altered.
